About this plugin

Light Rails fills the canvas, or a shape you select, with a bundle of gradient bands.

There are four looks, and picking one sets everything: palette, motion, and every slider.

Navy fan sweeps its bands in and out on a dark ground, staggered so they light up one after another.

Comb fan holds the same fan lit the whole time and cycles the colours through it instead.

Horizon crowds the bands toward a vanishing line, the way a plane does as it recedes.

Straight runs them parallel down the frame with the colour travelling along each band.

Insert one and you're done, or open the sliders and push it somewhere else. Count, angle, flare, core heat, rib, grain, loops, the colour ramp... all of it is live, and the preview in the panel is the same composite you'll get on the canvas, not an approximation of it.

Select a layer first and it becomes a track matte. The bands fill the circle, the blob, the letterform, whatever you drew. Nothing selected and they go in full frame, behind everything already in the scene. (Text wants converting to outlines first.)

What fills on your timeline is ordinary shape layers. Gradient fills, keyframes, a blur effect. Nothing is baked to an image, so you can recolour it, retime it, matte it again, or pull it apart and keep half.

Gradients slide by a whole number of repeats, and the sweep holds its value across the reset instead of interpolating backward through it, so there's no flick at the seam.

The panel shows the keyframe count before you commit. A wide bundle over many loops gets heavy, and it's better to know that in the panel than three minutes into scrubbing.

New in version 1.0.1

Light Rails fills the canvas, or a shape you select, with a bundle of gradient bands.

Four looks. Navy fan sweeps its bands in and out on a dark ground, staggered so they light one after another. Comb fan holds the same fan lit and cycles the colours through it. Horizon crowds the bands toward a vanishing line. Straight runs them parallel down the frame with the colour travelling along each band. Picking a look sets the palette, the motion and every slider, so there's no separate preset list to work through.

Fills a shape, not just the frame. Select a layer before you insert and it becomes a track matte, so the bands fill the circle, the blob, the letterform. With nothing selected they go in full frame, behind everything already in the scene.

The output stays editable. Shape layers with gradient fills, keyframes and one blur effect. Nothing is baked to an image, so you can recolour it, retime it, matte it again, or take it apart and keep half.
