About this plugin

Procedural Nodes is a node editor for procedural motion. Wire a few nodes together — a grid of points, a wave, some noise, a color ramp — and watch a looping animation build in the live preview. When it looks right, add it to your scene as an ordinary layer with real keyframes.

Start from a preset

30 presets cover loaders, level meters, heart-monitor traces, kinetic type, halftones, confetti, orbits and patterns. Every preset is an editable graph, so you can pull it apart to see how it works.

27 nodes in 8 groups

  • Signals: time, sine, looping noise and per-shape random values

  • Points: grids, rose-curve paths, transforms and warps

  • Patterns: masks, repeating patterns, Voronoi cells and text as a shape

  • Color: multi-stop ramps and adjustments

  • Math: math, remap with easing curves, split, merge and steps

  • Timing: echo trails, stagger and fade windows

  • Scene: read a layer from your scene

  • Draw: dots, polygons and stars, or lines with an optional fill

Use your own layers

Bind a layer from your scene and use its motion, its outline or its silhouette. Turn a logo into halftone dots, run particles along a shape's outline, or have a swarm follow a layer's animated position.

Made for real work

  • The preview runs at your scene's size, frame rate and duration.

  • Add to scene bakes every frame and thins the keyframes. Adding the same graph again replaces the layer it made last time.

  • Select a layer Procedural Nodes made and it offers to open that graph again.

  • Save graphs, or export and import them as JSON.

  • Undo and redo, Randomize, Tidy, and Cmd/Ctrl+F to find any node.

  • Counters show the shape and keyframe totals and warn before a bake gets heavy.

New in version 1.0.0

Procedural Nodes 1.0 — first release

Build looping procedural animation from nodes and add it to your Creator scene as real keyframes.

  • 30 presets to start from, including new loaders, a heart-monitor trace, an LED level meter and kinetic type.

  • 27 nodes for signals, points, patterns, color, math, timing, scene layers and drawing.

  • Your own layers as input: use a layer's motion, outline or silhouette.

  • Live preview at your scene's size, frame rate and duration.

  • Add to scene as one layer. Adding again replaces it, and selecting it reopens its graph.

  • Save, import and export graphs as JSON.

  • Find any node with Cmd/Ctrl+F.
